SYNOP.

POV is a commentary on the male gaze from a female/femme perspective, in the dating institution/landscape.  The film follows a young femme preparing and going on a date with societies definition of conventional attractiveness and power: a tall, handsome, well off white guy. As we follow the femme on the date we are shown how a woman views a man while dating and during sex. This motif is a comment on how we often focus on the man’s perspective while also challenging the male POV with the Femme/Female POV.

THE CREATORS

JES DAVIS

ACTOR | WRITER | DIRECTOR | PRODUCER

“I want this film to have an impact artistically and socially. The dating world is a place where we all congregate and suffer; the suffering is brought on by it being a subtle extension and institution of capitalism. I think the goal (for me) is to marry the socio-political with the art without it becoming a lecture. I want the art to teach.”

Jes Davis is a Bay Area California Native and has been acting and film making for the past 15 years. Whether it be acting on stage or in film, telling stories has always been a joyous pursuit. Jes has been featured in leading roles in indie stage and film productions and has landed a few featured co star roles with Netflix.

CINEMATOGRAPHER | WRITER | PRODUCER

“I feel like this film is a culmination of years of work from both of us, together and separately. Within the confines of the white, capitalist, heteronormative and binary areas of NYC, we hope to speak to counterculture and queerness via an immersive experience of two people from different socio-economic backgrounds dating, what comes up between them, and the multitudes of inequality, triggers, desires and vulnerability to which this speaks.”

Alice Millar is a London born Cinematographer living in New York and working internationally. She attended NYU for an undergraduate degree and specializes in a fluid and immersive style. Her work has been awarded from Toronto to Venice.
